There was a six month or so postponement of the show's opening, which might have given the song time to circulate; Also songs like Not a Day goes by, and Good thing Going were in an older style.When I first heard the Merrily Overture, I said to my self, Someone kept a picture of Jule Styne under his pillow while composing the show.
