Okay, I'll concede this. But it's Josh Groban.

Aside from a few months as a 'hot young thing' on "Ally McBeal," Mr. Groban has been the stuff of PBS pop-legend, not actual pop-legend.

He's great for pledge drives. But "You Raise Me Up" is in high school choir concerts, not teenagers' Spotify playlists.

Maybe theater music will NEVER be for the cool kids. And maybe it shouldn't be.

But considering that Katy Perry's new album is sinking faster than the titanic, I think we're five minutes away from seeing her tackle theater music. It's what always happens.
