|Headline: 'Passing Strange,' the best musical to not win a Tony, is back
Story: '" Passing Strange' [won] just one Tony, for Stew’s book.''
The headline on Riedel's column is just wrong. ''Passing Strange'' DID win a Tony.
Maybe the headline should've read: 'Passing Strange,' the best musical to not win the Tony, is back.
Or: 'Passing Strange,' the best show not to win Best Musical, is back.
But even those choices are overstated because Riedel never says anything like that in his column.
Only that ''Passing Strange'' is ''high on my list of the best musicals of the past 10 years.''
That said, I don't recall the Tony race being that tight that year between ''Passing Strange'' and ''In the Heights.''
And odd that Riedel doesn't include the fact that Spike Lee turned ''Passing Strange'' into a 2009 movie.
(I can't say ''Passing Strange'' was high on my list for even THAT season; my favorite was ''Cry-Baby.'')
