Singapore/Fling, thanks for the shoutout, but I can't take credit for that 'Carrie' headline. Besides, I worked at the rival of the N.Y. Post's.

If you ever wondered ''what's in the Daily News'' and who wrote those headlines for its theater reviews, it probably was me.

Howard Kissel told me that he'd get compliments for the headlines on his reviews, which I also edited, and he always gave me credit.

Among my favorites: For Kissel's rave of ''Meet Me in St. Louis'': HELLO, TROLLEY!

And for his pan of ''Tarzan'' the musical: ME, CRITIC; YOU, LAME!

''You'll forgive me if I boast'' (for 2 seconds), but I once won the WUXTRY Award for the nation's best headline writer.

There was a story about how Princess Diana's popularity sparked the skyrocketing sales in tiaras. My headline: TIARA BOOM TODAY!

(I love All That Chat. Where else can you find a thread about theatrical headlines?)
