Time for an end to the default of paper Playbills?
Posted by: Leon_W 12:57 am EDT 07/16/17

The other day I noticed a theater throwing out thousands of Playbills for a still open show and realized it was probably because they had the pride month cover and June is over. Then I was reading about how wasteful paper is to produce. So obviously Playbill is a tiny drop in the ocean of paper produced but I thought what don't we just get an electronic Playbill with our electronic tickets. We could get an update slip email on the day with any cast changes. This way we could read the Playbills in advance. They could have some paper copies available at the theater for patrons that don't use email or electronic devices but it would be good I think to get away from paper being the default. Also this way everyone could have online access to every legacy playbill.
