I recognize that anybody with a starring role on broadway must feel enormous pressure to not miss a performance. But, short of Hugh Jackman, has there ever been another performer who must be facing such profound pressure to never miss as Bette Midler? I think if she ever misses a performance for which she is scheduled to appear, it will be national news. There simply won't be tickets available to replace the ones for those patrons, right?

It's this that pops into my head every time I read a comment here about her being "unprofessional". The unbelievably high stakes for her to maintain her health and be ready to perform seven shows a week must be daunting.
