"what is widely agreed is..."

Scott Rudin doesn't get to have an opinion that Harold Hill is widely agreed to be the greatest role written for a man in musical theater history - he can either observe and cite that it IS widely agreed, or not. He can't have the personal opinion that it is "widely" "agreed" upon by others in a notably definitive way.

And it doesn't say "The roll that producer Scott Rudin believes to be the greatest ever written for a male". I'm not sure why you're defending this kind of hyperbole.
