In fact, the 1961 movie of ''West Side Story'' won 10 of its 11 Oscars, and the only one it lost was Adapted Screenplay.
And the last screenplay to a movie musical to win an Academy Award is ''Gigi'' (1958).
Speaking of the WGA, they used to give a prize for Best Written Musical, from 1949-1969. Another relic of another time. |
