A specific puzzle I have with a new version has to do with a lot of the original humor which was often visual and based on, shall we say, matters of corpulence, both male and female. (And by contrast, thinness.)
Definitely! As well as corpulent sensuality. It's in a lot of jazz and blues.
I'm not sure such sources of humor would be welcome now.
There's probably a greater political awareness of body difference and body positivity today. However, that's different from a more discreet humor that plays with, close to the vest, the delight of larger sized women and men. |
