| None of that explains the fact that within the last decade or so, you used to be able to hear the end of a song on Broadway. Nowadays, the crowds are yahooing before it's over so they can hear themselves scream, and you hear them more than the performer onstage, who can get completely drowned out. I guess I'm the only one here who prefers it the other way. (I realize I'm exaggerating its prevalence--it's not every song, of course--but the point remains, things have changed.) |
